Colorado high school lacrosse players hailing from various schools came together on February 9, 2014 to participate in a 5K race and raise over $22,000 for Denver City Lax. The event was the first annual Denver City Lax Dash, and was hosted by the Valentine Day 5k Washington Park Run.
The Colorado lacrosse community knocked it out of the park for Denver City Lax. The Dash was the most successful non-profit fundraiser attributable to high school lacrosse players in Colorado lacrosse history!
Prior to the race the high school runners reached out to donors requesting support in their run for Denver City Lax.
The top fundraising group was Regis Jesuit High School. They raised over $8,500 for Denver City Lax. The top three individual fundraisers were 1. Dylan Johnson (Cherry Creek), 2. Mac Mease (Colorado Academy), and 3. Broderick Vitale (Cherry Creek).
Numerous other students helped made the event a success. This event happened solely because of the hard work and generosity of these young Colorado HS student athletes and those who supported their efforts. The Colorado Lacrosse community should be proud!
Participating High Schools:
All donations from the Dash help Denver City Lax offer all programming at no cost to participants to remove any barrier that might hinder opportunity and access. The spring youth lacrosse league is the organization’s centerpiece, and each year more activities are offered throughout the year to include the opportunity to play on tournament teams, attend summer camps, study at leadership training camps, travel to the mountains for summer and winter activities, mentorship, and assistance with academic guidance.
