Denver City Lax is excited to have an entry in this summer’s youth festival as part of the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships being hosted in Denver, Colorado.  A U13 boys team, joined by several players from urban programs in Boston and Dallas, will take the field representing diversity and the Denver City Lax organization!

The World Championships are a true international event bringing together men’s teams from 38 different countries for a 10-day period in the Mile High City.  The U13 portion of the youth festival will feature 50 teams hailing from coast to coast and Canada.

A variety of activities are planned for the U13 team in addition to the tournament, including a trip to the mountains, river rafting, a special tour at Red Rocks, hiking and other similar adventures.

Coach Peyton off to China

June 9, 2014 - 5:33 PM

Have a good journey (Yī lù shùn fēng) and safe travels to Coach Peyton Tyrie.  Later this summer Peyton begins an adventure to China where he will continue his teaching career.

This spring marked Peyton’s second year coaching with City Lax, and we could not have asked for a better coach.  For two years Peyton’s guided 20 participants through their first experience with lacrosse.

Coach Peyton created a culture where kids had fun, worked hard, and learned the fundamentals of the game.  Winning was never the number one priority – becoming a better player and person was.  This was on full display at the end of this spring when the team played their best lacrosse of the season, beating opponents who had previously bested us (badly) earlier in the season.

We wish Peyton the best, and thank him for instilling a passion for lacrosse in our players and families!
